Robert Newby

A note from the Principal | Mr. Robert Newby

I am pleased to introduce myself as Robert Newby, your principal for the current academic year. Originating from Sanford, NC, and a product of Lee County Schools, my journey in education began in 1992 as an Instructional Assistant and Bus Driver. Transitioning to SanLee Middle School in 2008, I dedicated myself to teaching middle school mathematics. Subsequently, in 2015, I completed my Administrative Internship at Lee County High School and assumed the role of Assistant Principal in 2016. It is with great pride that I return to where my career commenced over 25 years ago to contribute to guiding the Rockets toward success.

East Lee Middle School stands as the BEST Middle School in Lee County, committed to fostering academic excellence and holistic development in every student. With a dedicated team and a supportive community, we strive to create an unparalleled educational experience that empowers our students to thrive and succeed in all their endeavors.

I firmly believe in the potential of every student to learn and their entitlement to a secure and nurturing learning environment. My primary objective is to facilitate the success of each student at East Lee Middle School. Should you require any assistance from our administrative team, please feel free to contact me by email at rnewby.elms@lee.k12.nc.us.

I eagerly anticipate collaborating with the staff, students, families, and community of East Lee Middle School.

Respectfully,

Robert Newby
